Neuropathways of the Neurodiverse

Since my earliest memories, my brain has functioned non-traditionally, with unique neuropathways shaping how I perceive and interact with the world around me. My perspective on the world, how I would fixate on specific emotions or activities, and the lens through which I saw the world around me was always more abstract and unconventional. However, art has constantly captured my attention for over 20 years.

In my younger years, I struggled with emotional regulation and had heightened sensitivity due to health conditions; aortic stenosis was the diagnosis. This led to my hypersensitivity and unique perspective on processing, receiving, and translating ideas and information into the world. My neuro-pathways have allowed me to think creatively and outside the box, and art has been a powerful outlet for expressing my unique perspective.

This abstract piece represents the colourful multifaceted approach neurodiverse individuals play in our world. As someone who lives with neurodiversity, my proposition for this piece is to truly embrace the use of colour to represent the diversity of the mind and the synapses of electricity that run through us as humans daily. My art, often spontaneous, is a way to reveal the inner workings of abstract-thinking humans' minds, highlighting the role that unique neuropathways play in shaping our perceptions and experiences.
